2nds hit Rock for Half Century

Metro League Division 1  –  Old Wesley 52 Blackrock 22

Old Wesley 2nds recorded their biggest win of the season with 52 point, 8 try win over Blackrock at Donnybrook.

Blackrock have struggled to field a 2nds team this season however they had the better start taking an 8 point lead early in the game thanks to their young and mobile side. It was 30 minutes into the game before Old Wesley got the measure of them when Jonny O’Sullivan crossed for a try.  This sparked Wesley’s more physical and experienced team into action as Jeff O’Loughlan, Dan Gilmer and O’Sullivan, again, scored tries. Together with the accurate boot of Josh Miller Wesley led 26-8 at the half time break.

Blackrock made a cameo comeback in the second half with two rapid fire converted tries.   However that was to be their last score as Wesley regained control for the rest of the match with tries by Mark Rowley, in his first outing this season, Sam Kenny and Tom Morehead.  Try of the match came as a finale as Shane Brennan made a gut wrenching run the length of the pitch to score in the corner.
