Christmas Message from the Club President

Christmas Message from the Club President

I hope all fellow Old Wesley members and their families are enjoying the festive season.

We are now half way through the season and it’s been a great few months for the Senior team and many of the Junior teams. The spirit within the teams is uplifting. Well done to the players, managers and coaches at all levels.

Your support for the Senior team at the upcoming Naas away game on the 27th January 2017 would be greatly appreciated by the squad at this important game.

The minis and youths are also doing very well with strong numbers attending every Sunday.

The new clubhouse has proven to be very popular, many wonderful functions have taken place since we opened. The Official Opening and Annual Dinner proved to be very successful with members and visitors giving fantastic feedback.

Just a few dates for diaries:

  • We are holding a 125-year Celebration Dinner Dance with guest speaker on the 16th March in the Ballsbridge Hotel. The aim is to have some of the successful Senior and Junior teams over the past 25 years to take a table at the event. This will be for all members and partners and to celebrate the clubs 125 years. Peter Acton will be in contact with all Pavilion and past players, Willie Campbell with all current players and Jenny Bailey with the family members.
  • The Annual Comedy Lunch will be held during May in the clubhouse.
  • The Club Tour will be announced early January with Colin Wallace providing details.

I would like to thank all those who volunteer, play, manage and support the club in anyway. You know who you all are and you are the reason for the club’s success.

I am very honoured to be your President in this special year at the club. May I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

A very prosperous New Year to all and continued success both on and off the pitch in 2017.

Yours in Rugby

Dave Pierce, President
