It was with great sadness that we heard today of the death of our very good friend Dick, after a short illness. One of our oldest, if not the oldest, members, he joined Old Wesley around 1946 and most of his rugby was played on the junior teams. When asked on one occasion what position he played, he described himself as a dashing 10 1/2 stone wing-forward. Dick became President of the club in 1975-76 and maintained his interest for the club right through over 70 years of membership. He looked forward latterly to the Senior lunches in the club on Thursdays with enthusiasm, meeting many friends whom he had made over the years.
Our sympathies go to Dick’s wife Joan and his sister Betty.
