Gerry Olin Trophy – Old Wesley v Terenure

The first match in this new competition took place on Friday 30th January. The match was attended by a large number of members and friends from Old Wesley and Terenure. Old Wesley held on to a 14 all score line approaching half time but were eventually well beaten by the hosts, final score Old Wesley 21 Terenure 52. Background to the Gerry Olin Trophy

Gerry Olin, the manager of the Terenure RFC U20s sadly passed away earlier this year. Gerry was involved with U20s rugby in Terenure RFC for many years and was a regular visitor to Old Wesley with Terenure’s U20s and in a social capacity.

To remember Gerry and to acknowledge the link between our two clubs Terenure RFC and Gerry’s family have put forward a trophy to be contested for each year between our U20s teams. The inaugural match will take place in Lakelands at 7 pm on Friday the 30th of December. This would be an informal match and would be open to U20s players from the last few seasons. There will be a presentation, food and drinks after the match. See further details below:
