Girls Rugby on the road again…

Our Girls squads took to the road once again last weekend.

Our De La Wes squad travelled to Blessington in the Leinster Under 14 Girls Plate.  After scoring the first try, the girls were soon behind by pace as Blessington used their strength on the wing on several occasions. Behind at half time, the girls threw everything at Blessington in the second half.  16 tires later the girls went down 32-52, however huge steps were taken this week in their development.  24 hours after her brother took to the field for the Ireland U20’s in Cork, Georgie Brigg returned an inspired performance in attack and defence. Rebecca Goldstein worked hard in attack and defence, while unfortunately Grace McLoughlin got injured in the warm up.  Cate Steele is currently targeting a return to play in another couple of weeks, while Isabella and Mia Neary will soon return to the pitch after their time away with other commitments.

24 hours later our Under 10’s took part in a high octane blitz at Blackrock RFC, running in 7 tries. All the girls are developing their skills and understanding to a good level.  Sophie O’Toole running in with a brace of tries, while Isabella Tweed continued her great tackling awareness, Helena Robaina showed her good support play, Bruna Lee leading the line, while Millie Sloane, starting only her second Blitz, is continuing to show a very approach to rugby after only starting three weeks ago.

On the same day the Under 14 Girls returned to Ballycorus to help raise funds for their trip to Belfast to see the Ireland v Scotland W6N as they catered for the Leinster Finals.  A great effort saw them return just over €500.  If anyone is interested in sponsoring the one night trip please get in touch with Chris on
