The death has occurred of Paddy Bewley. A life member of Old Wesley he joined the club soon after leaving school and played junior rugby during the 1960s and 1970’s. Paddy was always a popular player to have on your team as he would regularly bring Bewley’s buns and pastries for the players to have with their cup of tea after the match. After finishing playing Paddy continued to support many club events, and in more recent years was a regular at the Old Wesley Thursday Lunches.
A qualified accountant, Paddy joined the family business soon after leaving school where he quickly established himself in the company. He became Managing Director of Bewleys from 1977 serving until 2003. Outside work Paddy was also involved in a number of charities including the Hospice Foundation and the Mendicity Institution.
Old Wesley extends its sympathies to Paddy’s wife Shirley, sons Craig and Simon and the rest of his family at this sad time.
