Respect Our Game Awareness Weekend

Old Wesley is committed to fostering a welcoming and positive environment within the rugby community. Understanding the challenges that contribute to adult sports dropout, particularly the feelings of not belonging and a lack of enjoyment. THe club is joining the IRFU initiative aiming to address these issues and reinforce the core values of the game.

Drawing insights from the IRFU State of the Game Survey 2022, which highlighted the impact of poor sideline behavior on players, coaches, and referees, the IRFU has scheduled a weekend of awareness – February 2nd to 4th, 2024. This weekend serves as an opportunity to emphasize the importance of RESPECT for players, volunteers, members, and spectators. Our goal is to showcase the positive aspects of rugby and demonstrate how it can enrich lives when conducted in a respectful and safe environment so as to contribute to creating an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all involved.
