Leinster Senior League Division 2 Semi-Final
Old Wesley 12 Wanderers 6
It was heavy weather both from both a meteorological and a rugby point of view for Old Wesley who just about overcame Wanderers last night to advance to the final of the Leinster Senior League Division 2.
Played in often torrential rain, Wesley had the territorial and possession advantage in the first half but it was Wanderers who led 3 nil at half time. The visitors extended their lead by another penalty goal early in the second half. Wesley looked to be going nowhere until, with less than 12 minutes to go, they found space out wide and outnumbered the Wanderers defence for new recruit Ciaran McHugh to score the first try of the match. Josh Miller made it 7 points with the difficult conversion.
Just a few minutes later some careless defence by the opposition and kick through saw Tom Kershey ground the ball for a second try. A line out steal inside the Wesley 22 thwarted any chance of a Wanderers counter and soon after it was full time.
Old Wesley will meet the winners of Greystones and Navan in the final, which is scheduled for 5th January.
