Strictly Dancing an Enormous Success
It was probably the biggest Social/Fund Raising event ever held by Old Wesley. With an audience of over 650 and 30 dancers Old Wesley staged an enormously successful Strictly Dancing event last Sunday night. It was so big there was standing room only in the main ballroom of the Ballsbridge Hotel. To say the place was hopping was an understatement. Even the club president Dave Bursey was at times stuck for words, and that doesn’t happen often.
The competition was won by the highly popular couple, Andrew Cole and Rebecca Shakleton. 2nd place went to Cal Lynn and Nikki McConnell and in 3rd place it was Stephen Chapman and Hannah Parfrey.
The judges for the event were former referee Alan Lewis, club captain Alan Large and professional dancer and instructor Karen Williams. The MCs for the evening were Spin 1038 DJ Becki Miller and Old Wesley player and politician Neale Richmond. During the interval the audience was entertained by singer Chris Holland.
There was an enormous amount of hard work put into organising this event and it is something the club will be talking about for years. The organising committee consisted of Heather Niland, Colin Wallace, Jenny Bailey, Jodie Bursey, Patricia Parfrey, David Jermyn, Sandra Younge, Dave Bursey and David Swaine.
