Metro League Rugby Round up
There was no Senior or Under 20 rugby last weekend but all three junior teams were in action and they all delivered wins in their respective Metro leagues. Indeed in two of these Old Wesley did not concede a score to the opposition.
The 3rds kicked off the weekend on Friday when they came away with a valuable 15-10 win over Lansdowne in Metro League 4 thanks to tries by Eoin Fitzpatrick and Colin Wallace, and points picked by Aco Keating. On Saturday it was the turn of the 4ths who beat Coolmine 15-0 in Metro League 7 with tries by Alan O’Connor, Joe Wheatley and veteran Graham Richmond.
The 2nd XV dominated from start to finish against Boyne to come away with a comprehensive 36-0 nil, bonus point win in Metro League 2. The clinical attitude of Old Wesley was most notable as, despite some late dominance by the opposition, they were determined to keep their line uncrossed. There were 6 tries by Richie Jermyn, Mulcair O’Mara, Andrew McCrann, Steven Boyle, Ian Slattery and Eoin Fitzpatrick. Colin Sheridan added 3 conversions.
