Wesley win Top of the Table Clash against Stillorgan

Metro League 3 –  Old Wesley 45 Stillorgan 25

(22nd Oct) Fresh off a scrappy win against Wanderers last weekend, Wesley went up against Stillorgan who were unbeaten in the league so far. The squad was bolstered by the returning Paddy and Mark from their travels in America. The first half began well with Wesley carrying well and making good line breaks and were rewarded with three points thanks to a penalty from Kenny McLaughlin.  The first try came from Brownlow which was converted to make it 10-0. Another try came from Jamie Boyd soon after on the back of some slick hands from the backs. Stillorgan kept in touch with a few penalties. The half ended 24-6 after another good try from Paddy.

Despite Old Wesley being dominant, Stillorgan were allowed to come back into the game and they scored three tries over the second half mainly due to Wesley’s poor discipline. However Old Wesley were never really in trouble thanks to a tries from Tim, Paddy and Mulcaire. The game ended 45-25, another bonus victory in the bag but the 3rds are still in search of a complete 80 minutes performance.

After five matches Old Wesley are unbeaten and 8 points clear in the league ahead of Wanderers and Stillorgan.
