Old Wesley Rugby Football Club is a true amateur sports club offering rugby (Union & Touch) to all, both in the adult sides and the mini & youths sections. Some recent background and what we are about:
Senior Rugby 2018/2019 was a record breaking year for Old Wesley – in time the season of 2018/19 will be viewed as one of if not the most successful season in the club’s long history. When other clubs are struggling to field teams, we are in rude health with all teams from 1st XV through to our 5th XV and including our under 20’s have had hugely successful seasons collecting 6 pennants along the way. On top of all that we had superb crowds piling into Donnybrook for every home game.
Season 2019/20 will be long remembered for many reasons, unfortunately more so for the effects of Covid on the rugby calendar. However, as a club we will look back at another excellent season on the field of play, with all teams competing extremely well in their respective leagues. The highlight had to be a fantastic unbeaten 14 from 14 by our mighty 3rd XV in Metro 2 beating many J1 sides along the way.
2020/2021 is shaping up to be just as exciting and we had hope that you and your business will be a part of the action!
Mini & Youth Rugby
Our aim is to provide a safe, non-competitive, enjoyable environment through activities which ensure progressive skill development for all participants in line with the IRFU Long Term Development (LTPD) pathway, Child Welfare Policy and Traditions of Rugby Union. You can visit www.irishrugby.ie to view these policies to which Old Wesley RFC adhere to. All our Coaches and Volunteers are Garda Vetted and have age appropriate accreditation of coaching skills.
Mini & Youth Strategic plan
As part of our 3-year Strategic plan, which was developed at the end of last season, we made a number of changes to the structure of Mini and Youth based around four objectives:
- Rugby Management of the Mini/Youths Section
- Development of OWRFC Rugby Pathway
- Growing the Membership
- Developing and Sustaining the Internal Coaching & Management Structure
