Saturday 12th May at Dubarry Park in Athlone

Old Wesley, who qualified for the All Ireland event by reaching the final of the Leinster 7s, made a good account of themselves amongst strong opposition at Dubarry Park last Saturday.

The team got off to a great start with a fine win over Shannon by 29 pts to 26 pts, going on then to lose narrowly to Buccaneers in their second match.  Then when it looked as if we were about to beat Malone in the last moments of the game, a dropped ball resulted in a turnover, which led to a Malone score to snatch victory and a place in the semi-finals.

In our final match we lost narrowly to Trinity who went on to meet Malone in the final.  It is interesting to note that both finalists came through our section which is a testament to the quality of our play in what was a long drawn out event.

Congratulations to the squad and to the management team for reaching the “IRFU Finals” which was a great end to the season.

We hope that all our Squad now enjoy a well earned rest and we look forward to seeing you all in the new season.
