Metro League 1 – Old Wesley 21 Old Belvedere 13
After conceding an early try and conversion followed by a penalty goal it looked like Old Wesley 2nds were going to be in for a difficult evening from Old Belvedere. But a try by Craig Telford just before half time gave Wesley their first score, and a new edge, leaving it 10-5 to the opposition at the break. The introduction of Jack Maybury at half time gave Wesley an extra dimension as he slotted three penalty goals, two from long range, to take a 14-13 lead as the game entered the 4th quarter. Then, after a penalty kick down the line, Telford struck again ploughing over from a 5 metre line out. Maybury was on target again with the conversion to give Wesley an eight point lead. A late long range penalty effort by the visitors fell short denying them a losers bonus point
The win promotes Old Wesley to top of the league marginally ahead of Lansdowne; who along with other teams have a game in hand.
