Under 14 Girls win in Leinster Metro League

Under 14 Girls win in Leinster Metro League

Saturday morning at DLSPRFC our Under 14 Girls continued their progress in the Leinster Metro League by taking their first league win of the season 42-12. Our Under 14 Girls have combined with DLSP to create De La Wes and they have been playing together since the start of the season.

The girls were quick out of the trap after the first whistle and raced into a 10-0 lead within the first ten minutes. A turnover in the ruck and a couple of quick passes created space for another try soon after. Captain for the day, Steele, then raced in to score her first full pitch try and at half time it was 27-0. At the start of the second half our lead was reduced to 27-12 but then the girls fought back to score with Goldstein crossing the line to score her first full pitch try with the last play of the match.

With McLoughlin playing in a number of different positions including her first venture at scrum half and Brigg doing her usual to disrupt rucks and pin point tackling our girls came off the pitch buzzing.

A huge thank you to the coaches from DLSP, Darragh Coyle and Emily McKeown for the support and encouragement since the start of the season as our attention now turns to tomorrow where our Under 10 Girls take to the field in their first ever Girls Blitz at Old Belvedere RFC.

The first weekend where Old Wesley have had two girls squads playing on the same weekend and long may it continue.
