Wesley qualify for home AIL semi-final with 8 try win over Queens

AIL – Old Wesley 52 Queen’s University 15  –  6th April 2024

Old Wesley qualified for a home AIL semi-final against Garryowen with an 8 try win over Queen’s University at Donnybrook.

Old Wesley owned the first half with tries by Ben Stephens, Alex Molloy, Cathal Kelly and Will Fay.  Three of them were converted by Ian Cassidy to give Wesley a 26-nil lead at half time; and a bonus point, at least, in the bag.

Queens got off the mark with an early second half try before an intercept try by Eoin Deegan got Wesley back on the scoresheet.  Three more tries followed in rapid succession by Alex Molloy (his second), Bill Corrigan and Eoin Murphy.

Queens scored two late tries but it was a season best win for Old Wesley on the day.

The semi-final takes place against Garryowen at Donnybrook on Saturday 20th April
